Some Early Fusion curiosities

Discussion in 'Recordings [BG]' started by page, Dec 31, 2005.

  1. Ive heard about trio's and quartets and such that guys like Jack Bruce and John Mclaughlin. Any info on these late sixties early seventies side projects or whatever they were? Or maybe Tony Williams. I dunno , Im probaly not being specific enough...... thanks.

This raised my curiosity because I found an old record called Things We Like which has Bruce and McLaughlin.Very good record.

"Things We Like" is Jack Bruce's second album, released in 1970 but recorded in 1968 and features John McLaughlin and Jon Hiseman on drums. Tony Williams Lifetime featured McLaughlin and Larry Young (organ) on their first album "Emergency!" (1969) and added Jack Bruce for 1970's "Turn It Over". Those two albums are pretty wild stuff.

That's putting it mildly. Fans of Kenny G would run screaming in terror which is just fine with this Owl!! :D
