im gettin into slapping now, and i was wondering if there are tabs for actual slap lines. I dunno if thats what they are called but i think you might get the point. Anyway.. if there are some actual songs i could listen to and try playing, please recommend them.. Thank You

If you got any cash, get a slap book instead. They will teach you techniques instead of "put your fingers here and you'll sound like flea".

  9. he's not asking for technique.. he's asking for tabs. ;)

How about "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry. That's kind of slappy, isn't it?

Man, I always slap the funk outta that tune when I play it!

    ;)

  14. No for the most part Play that Funky Music is just normal playing with your fingers. Good tune I like it a lot, but you are right to add your own little groov and spin on things if you slap it, it does sound pretty cool.

hiya, try 'silly putty' by stanley clarke, its fairly easy and sounds a beaut.

also, maybe try 'naked in the rian' by rhcp if your into that stuff. It promotes the double pop that you'll prolly see on your travles as a bas splayer :D

theres an online archive of slap lines over at activebass.com (search lessons)and TMB exercise archive (click the 'slap' section).

  16. I'll give you a few I play, but I'm not sure if you'll understand them.. here goes:
PS:this is my 2nd Tab EVER and my 1st was'nt slap.

    ------------5---------------------
    -----------------------3h5-x--3h5
    -----3--3-------3--3-------------
    ----------------------------------

    ----------5------------------------
    ----------------------3h5-x--3h5--
    -----3---------3--3---------------
    -----------------------------------
    immediatley after 3h5

    ----------3----------------------
    ---------------------1h3-x--1h3--
    -----1---------1--1--------------
    ----------------------------------

    ---------3 (1/2sec.)-------3---4-
    ---------------------------------
    -----1----------------1-1----2--
    ---------------------------------

    ------------5---------------------
    -----------------------3h5-x--3h5
    -----3--3-------3--3-------------
    ----------------------------------
    ...
    .....
