I got to thinking about a few of the input devices I have lying around, so I took a picture of them. I'm not going to do reviews, so don't even think about it. I'll take specific questions, though.

    Number 67, please. Number 67? OK, 68 ...

middle left - is that one of those Nathan East mid scooper thingies? They tried to *give* me one of those down at my local music store. I politely declined, explaining that my sound didn't need a single smidge of additional scoopage. Assuming that is what that box is, did I do the right thing, or did I miss out on a cool freebie?

Free is a pretty good price for an NE-1. They gave me $30 with mine at GC. Actually, if you like Nathan East's sound, this will get you closer to it, but you still need the Yammer bass to nail it. But from now on, if someone wants to give you anything for free, take it, k?

I occasionally use it at small gigs as a preamp/DI to go straight to the board. There's no need to use it with Eden gear ... I can get "my tone" without it. But it does give me some versatility going into the board. When I first got it, I ran through it into one of my Mackie SA 1530 powered speakers just to see how it'd sound. Boy does THAT rule. That'd be a cool stage rig in itself. I'd like to run it into my PLX 3402 driving my D-410XLT, 210XLT and 115XL and borrow back my old D-212XLT and see how THAT sounds. Maybe try it through the two JBL MR 918's that go with our big PA. The possibilities are endless.

Hmmmm ... man, I gotta do that.
