This bass has been for sale locally for quite a while now, however when he posts new adds he keeps raising the price! I just don't understand some peoples logic. If it don't sell at $350 I will definitely sell it at $400, man why is this bass not selling!! I know I will ask $450 for it, that will work!!
Ha ha! I saw a Kijiji ad where the guy was looking for an older Alembic and willing to pay up to $100. Another person was selling a used Peavey and asking for more than what they sell for new.
Yeah I see it all the time too, asking for more than a new one. This kills me: asking more for a used Jay Turser than you can get a Squier Vintage Mod for new. Must be drunk. What up Lethbridge!
Is he making any dishonest claims? If not then who cares? Let him ask a grand for a Carlo Robelli if he wants. No one has to buy it.
I'm not saying that this bass is a good example, but sometimes things become more desirable if you raise the price a little. People can be funny sometimes. I've seen items not sell at one price, and then get re-listed at a higher price and sell. I also remember an old Will Lee interview where he said he raised his session rates to try to lighten his workload and he actually got busier. He had to keep raising them until his workload tapered off to where he wanted it.
Some folks don't understand the "list price/sell price" thing. They believe that $500 is a fair price for the $389 bass they bought for their kid that had a list price of $599.
Its got a lot of history bro! I've bled sweat and cried on it which increases its value. Just remember kids, more bodily fluids=more dollars. The bass my tech spilled his dip spit in (the control cavity) sounds better than ever!
Believe it or not, there are some people who think if they pay more, then the item is worth more. About 10 years ago, I was looking for a new home and went to an open house. I felt it was over priced because it needed some work and told the realtor to call me when they dropped the price about $40,000. They ended up relisting it for $40,000 more and got the full asking price. The logic was that if the house was priced low, there must be something wrong with it so they raised the price and got what they originally wanted and then some. I suspect the same thing is happening with the bass. He figures if he asks a higher price someone will talk him down to what he really wants.
Kijiji is the cesspool of overpriced fenders ahem Squier basses. Same for ltd's, low end ibanez and yamahas. I swear this particular ad has been up for at least a year and imho its a bit overpriced for his bass collection. Bass land! Quarter stock sold! on Kijiji http://www.kijiji.ca/v-guitar/calgary/bass-land-quarter-stock-sold/1038860151
The thing I dont understand is the guy has left the other less expensive adds up and is using the same pic. If I were to do that (whicch I woild not do btw) I would atleast delete the other adds.
There was a guy on my local kijiji (in Canada) who was selling used effects pedals. He included links to the pedals on musiciansfriend, and the pedals were all cheaper there new!
