This is a fully loaded, cocobolo-topped mahogany Jazz-type body (No neck is included) I built and played out (with a Modulus Jazz replacement neck -- Not included) until my bad neck, short fingers and lack of discipline forced me to switch 100% to short scales. I'm looking for $525 (firm) shipped anywhere in the Conus. Not interested in breaking it up at this point. I'll let you know if that changes. Thanks

    Here are the specs:
    Body:
    • Custom carved and routed from professionally-glued body blank
    • Jazz-inspired shape with retro touch
    • Cocobolo top over mahogany body - Cocobolo electronics compartment cover
    • Nitro finish
    • Inlays: abalone stars surrounded by ebony
    • Light wear (a few dings, and scratches typical of play - nothing visible on stage)
    • Routed for Fender J or P neck - had Modulus Genesis J replacement neck (not included with body)
    • Professional electronics installation - fully copper-shielded (no noise)
    • Body blank cost me $135 - my labor cost: priceless
    Pickups:
    • Dark Star (models DS3-N and DS3-B) - J/P spacing
    • 2 1/2 years old - no damage or apparent wear - easily pass for new
    • If new - $400
    Preamp:Bartolini NTMB 5.2 A/P
    • 2 Pickup - 5 knob configuration
    • Controls:
    • - Volume (with Active/Passive push-pull)
    • - Blend
    • - Treble
    • - Mid (push/pull freq selector)
    • - Bass
    • New discounted retail - $150
    Bridge:
    • Hipshot A, Brass with chrome finish (adjustable with 3/4" spacing)
    • New discounted retail - $125
    Dunlop strap locks - Chrome

This is a super bass just waiting to happen. Just bolt on a Jazz or P bass neck and string it up. Even if you didn't like the body, the electronics alone would cost a good deal more than what I'm asking.

Thanks. Actually, I was inspired by the Lakland Decade (in concept and shape) and the old Eko Kadet (shape), as well as the venerable Jazz shape. It was a lot of fun to build. I'm definitely going to build a short scale once I can figure out who'll fabricate a really good 30.75" neck. ;)

not trying to be a troll but shouldn't this go to the accessories section since it's not a complete bass?

Great point. I thought of that and decided to err in the direction of getting a bit more attention for the listing -- but my reasoning wasn't strictly self-serving. It's not a complete bass, true. However, it's not a part, or an accessory. I could find nothing in the forum rules that seemed to give a clear answer to your question. Other that what I've said, I don't have one, either. I guess I'll leave that in the hands of our esteemed moderators. If they feel the thread should move, then so be it.

  9. At least I know that if I ignore this for a few hours it will be sold and I won't have to think about it any more. PURTY.
