Well today when I played my bass I turned it on and when I played it was not as loud as normal, I looked at all of my settings and nothing was changed at all. So I tried playing through my other bass and it did the same thing. So I played trough a different cable it was shot to hell, all of my old cables from less than a year ago are shot, my current cable is fairly new. So I looked inside the newer cable that I use and under the part you screw around the tip is bent and looks pretty bad, should I try to fix it or buy a new cable.

    thanks in advance.

unless you've got some freaky Audiophile-quality cable or something expensively wrought from fine cashmere :p ... cables are usually a minimal-cost item, and attempting to fix it might have the potential to make the problem worse. I would lean to the "replace it" side of the scale.

    ^^alright yea,
I felt really stupid asking whether or not to fix or buy one.
Its obvious that everyone would say buy a new one.

ok well i found one of my band mates cables that is brand new and i put it in my p-bass and it sounds perfect just the way i had it before the first one broke but then i put it in my jazz and the volume wont go louder that it usually is, so i opened the control plate of the jazz and there is nothing that seems to be wrong nothing seems to be disconected. any ideas that could be the cause of this. of now i just turn up my eq pedal a little bit, and it works fine, i just wish i could figure out why it is not as loud as usual.

    thanks in advance.

    dead strings???

word of advice, careful with your cable coiling they are pretty fragile, you should never bend or fold them.

the strings have only been on for like 3 weeks

  7. did you try to plug directly inyour amp. You'd see if the problem comes from your effects.
