    Gack.
Ever simply feel tired of your own playing?

I know what I need to do - change things up, stop forcing things, listen to some new stuff for ideas, sing...
    Just venting a wee bit.

Yep, I'm right there with you. I need to shut everything down for about six months and just woodshed.

Ha, when I saw the tread title I actually thought it was about David Hood's playing on this song.

I know that feeling. I've heard every note I've ever played.

I used to swap with the sax player when I got bored with my playing.
Rehearsal or gigs he was always keen to play bass, good player too.

Try a genre of music that you assume you'll NEVER bond with. It'll teach you some things you never saw coming.

I have that problem with songwriting. I worked on the last one about a month before finalizing the arrangement. Now I'm just sick of the song.

Just put the bass down for a bit. Go for a bike ride, run, rock climb, kayak.

The answer to bass burnout....Cross country ballroom dancing. Nothing like a 10k tango, a side benefit... it freaks the neighbors out.

Either pickup your guitar for a while or try playing your bass left handed. ;)

Geez. Basics. Jazz 101 - when you're bored of what you're playing over V chords, turn them into ii-V's.
Put a whole different vocabulary in my mind, heart, and fingers.
    Thanks, TalkBass!
