Son of a builder

Has anyone heard the song ‘Son of a builder’ by Doves. It’s an additional track on the ‘Snowden’ cd single and is wasted because it should have been at least an album track if not a single in it’s own right. The bass has two fantastic overdrive sounds in different parts of the song, and I know he uses a Fender Precision and a Boss ODB-3.

Has anyone heard the song? If so, what do you think. How does he achieve the overdrive sounds?
