I've been playing bass for just over a year now and I really like it, but I'm starting to get a bit bored.

I keep playing the same difficulty songs over and over again. (eg. Money, Iron Man, Paranoid, The Ocean etc) I want to learn to play harder songs (not like Yyz hard :p) but I don't know how.

Can anyone give me tips/advice to learning harder songs and possibly names of the songs??

  2. Achilles Last Stand is a fun Zepplin tune to play.

Try using some slow downer/pitch shift software like the free BestPractice. It also allows you to isolate bass lines with its eq.

Slowing a song down and then increasing the pitch an octave sometimes helps make the bass line clearer.

    Just practice. A lot.

Do you have the means to take lessons? If so, do it.

How about Spirit of Radio or Turn the Page (both by Rush). There are also plenty of great grooves by the Doobie Brothers that should keep you busy for awhile.

Put the time into scales instead.
