song request: slow jazzy style

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by JoeRules00, Apr 10, 2002.

  1. there are the often requests for cool songs to play, but I was wondering about a slow, jazz style song that would be good to learn. Any suggestions?

Al Jarreau's "We're in This Love Together" is cool.

I like playing Incubus' "Summber Romance (Anti-Gravity Love Song)

Simple little line that is pretty darn groovin'.

Possibly a bit faster than what you're looking for, but it's at a moderate tempo.

  7. If you can get a hold of Linda Ronstadt's album, "Hasten Down the Wind," she does a 5 mile per hour version of Patsy Cline's, "Crazy," and everybody I let listen to it liked it. Also, there's a new jazz singer named Jane Monheit, who sings in a kind of Ella Fitzgerald style. She does a version of "Never Let Me Go," that'll have couples lined up at the Justice of the Peace if your band plays it. ;)

    "Slow" AND "Jazzy"-

"If You Don't Know Me By Now"-Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes
...which sorta reminds me of "All Blues".

    Both are in 6/8...
