What's the deal with music about drugs? I can think of a bunch off of my head, and i'm sure I can find more.

    Primus- On the Tweak Again
Primus- Those Damned Blue Collared Tweakers
Primus- The Duchess and the Proverbial Mindspread
Black Sabbath- Killing Yourself to Live
    Black Sabbath- Snowblind
    Black Sabbath- Sweet Leaf
Black Sabbath- Fairies Wear Boots (probably)
Metallica- Master of Puppets (not a negative drug connotation however)

I'm sure i've left out a few Black Sabbath songs. What do you guys think?

Haha how'd I miss Clapton? And hey, I love "White Rabbit," but I had no idea it was about drugs. I thought it was an anti-war song, but now that I see the lyrics, I don't know how I got that mixed up. :p

What deal? There are lots of songs and love and sex, too. What's the deal with that? Freddie Mercury wrote a song about his cat! What's up with that guy?!?!?

Drugs are the shoddy inroad to creativity. They figure, why not pay tribute to them?

Ever heard the phrase "Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll?"...yeah, the songs not about Sex are about Drugs. That's pretty much how it works.

    Daytripper - The Beatles
So High, So Low - Mondo Generator
Auto Pilot - Queens of the Stone Age
    Cure For Pain - Morphine

Damn near every Alice in Chains song is about drugs, depression or death. One song that many people think is drugs but actually isn't is the song Rooster. It is about Jerry Cantrell's father.
  11. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (L.S.D) - Beatles. Great song.
As Bill Hicks said at the start of Tool's Third Eye "all those great artists that enhanced ur lifes throughout the years, reeeeaaaaaaaallllllllllll f-cking high on drugs." (something like that anyway). I only wish Jaco had never started taking drugs.

Maryjane by Rick James-song about weed
Someone mentioned "Maggot Brain" Well that song is instumental!
But here are some tid bits about it. Guitarist Eddie "Maggot Brain" Hazel was told by George Clinton before recording the song to think of something really sad and then let his feelings show through the song, I believe he chose his Mother who had passed and thus the heartfelt rendition of a blues ballard guitar solo that Jimmy Hendrix would have been proud of ! Not doubt he was tore down when he recorded it though! :D

    RIP EDDIE :bawl:

    Pink Floyd - "Comfortably Numb"
    Rush - "Passage to Bangkok"
The Toys = "I Smoke Two Joints"
    Genesis - "Carpet Crawlers"

    Eddie Money - "No Control"
Skid Row - "Monkey on Your Back (or whatever that tune is called)"
Guns & Roses - "Mr. Brownstone"
    Scorpions - "China White"
  17. Talking Heads' "Drugs" on the "Fear of Music" record is the best! Eno and Fripp were in on the recording...if you haven't heard it you're missing out!!! Worth the price of the record alone; there's lots of other great stuff on that one too (Mind, Paper, Cities, Memories Can't Wait)

Full disclosure, I'm a certified Fender technician working in a music store that carries Fender, Yamaha, and Ibanez products among others.
Yes, it's a great song, but it's about a picture that one of John Lennon's kids (I think Julian) drew when really young, I believe, not drugs.
