Songs for a Bass Duet?

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by CauliColin, Jan 24, 2012.

  1. I have spoken to a friend about this, and we have decided that having 2 basses in the lower register might not be ideal, but I would like your input. What song shall me and my friend play as a duet?

Also, if one of you plays in a lower register, there is a lot of room in the upper register for you two to play together without stepping on each others toes.

  5. That's what I thought. Thanks!

  6. IMSLP/WIMA will have lot's of classical stuff for two cellos. Already in the bass clef. Easy peasy.

As mentioned, try to separate your playing registers. If playing unison lines or parallel M/m 3rds as in the Blue Monk video, keep it in the upper register to avoid the low end overtone from piling up. And if you have an extra bass laying around, consider a set of piccolo strings for added separation.
