So I put on fresh D'Addario Pro Steels on my bass and borrowed an audio interface from a friend so as you can imagine I have been playing like crazy (around 14 hours in 2 days total), which resulted in really sore (destroyed would be a better word) fingertips. What are your best remedies for this? Do you guys put on some super glue and keep on playing or do you recommend to let them rest for a day or two? Cheers!
1) Don't play 14 hours in two days. 2) You joined this forum in 2008, so you have been playing for at least around five years. You don't have good calluses on your fingers yet? 3) Don't play for 14 hours in two days. 4) Watch some TV. Take a walk. Write a book. Call a girl. Eat a sandwich. 5) Don't play for 14 hours in two days. I'm just giving you crap for sheer entertainment reasons. Sure, I have used super glue n a pinch. But if you don't have a gig for a few days, just don't play. P.S. Don't play for 14 in two days. It's ridiculous.
I stopped playing for quite some time so I had to develop them back a bit but with old strings, these new ones killed me big time. As for the 14 hours I just typed the amount of time Reaper had been in use for the past 2 days.. It is probably more like 8-10 hours in 2 days so chill lol
I'm just giving you crap. By the way, steel strings don't work with the chemistry of my finger oils (or some such nonsense). I can't use them at all. They stick to my fingers and do lots of damage (mainly because I play pretty hard). I have to stay with nickels because they don't grab nearly as bad on my fingers.
I know them feels bro, my tips are all gray and stuff.. I might have to try those Nickels you talk about
I keep trying other strings but every time I do I come right back to good old D'Addario XL Nickels. They just work for me.
i get my fingertips sore sometimes, i use crazy glue that i put between my nail and finger tip.....for my right hand
Prevention is better than cure. OP, give your fingers time to recover. Then start playing for short periods of time and increase the time gradually.
