Sound-wise, how different is the SUB from the Stingray?

    Just wondering.
  2. SUBs have 2-band preamps while current Rays have 3-band preamps. Years ago, Rays had 2-band preamps and SUBS sound quite similar to those old Rays.

    What about the passive one?

You can still get the 2 band on Stingrays.

I don't know nothin' about no passive SUBs, but my active SUB compares very favorably to any Stingray I've ever played.

I just got a SUB a few months ago and I love it - it has vol+three band eq and sounds very very good for 400 bucks. Not quite as punchy/clear as an actual sterling, but its definitely got the MM sound goin on.
