I've wondered if there are any soundclips of a bass with nickel roundwounds, coz I've got a recommendation for nickels and I want to be sure that this IS the sound I want...
If anyone recorded himself playing a bass and it was equipped with nickels it would be great if you could put the soundclip...
    thanks...

  2. Don't have one but you should just try them out since a sound clip of somebody's elses bass and amp isn't going to really be a good indicator because of many variables.

Just get Thomastic-Infeld "Jazz Bass" Nickel Roundcores. They are smooth, lightning fast, last long and are expensive. The are made in austria. They are just warmer, more comfortable and good for bringing out the instrument's wood character and tone.

If you like Slinky, sizzling, brittle metallic sound and don't care about hearing the wood in your axe, you will should stick with steel.

I am testing out a prototype set of their "super alloys" which combine warmth and feel of nickel with the power of higher iron content for increased output and s/n ratio. They make these now but my protype set is extra long scale-36". My bass is the ideal test instrument. But you may like these.
