how long does it take for a bass player to encourperate famous bass player styles into his own music?

And also, How do u guys find fast exersizes, not always on the scales guidlines, but just anything thats complicated and fast and sounds good. Do u guys find parts in songs that are tough, or do u make them up urselves? I dunno, ive just been feeling very uninspired latley, and im having a tough time with my theroy, i feel like im way behind, and ill never reach the pro level, where i just think of great note choices like jaco or victor.

  2. how long have you been playing?
because i can tell you one thing, the greats like victor and jaco only did three things to achieve greatness.
    1. Practice
    2. Practice
    3. Practice
unfortunatly, there is no substute for practice, so i guess thats all there is to it!

I think the key word here is "think".

For me, reaching a level of not having to think, but feeling it, is one step closer.

For inspiration, I always try to lift things, solos, basslines. And then I usually dig into some ear-training. I try to do things away from the bass. Lifting, I'll try to do on the keyboard.
