Last week I gotta brand new Aftershock in the mail. I don’t know if it’s because I’m not doing/setting something right, but outta the box the tone knob seems to have no effect on the sound. It doesn’t matter whether I’m in fuzz, tube or metal mode, sweeping the tone pot from all the way rolled off to full on does zilch. Am I supposed to have pressed that little button on the back of the pedal?

I don't know specifically what your issue is, but I got a used Aftershock and the first thing I did was a factory reset. God only knows what the previous owner has done to it. It's mega programmable.

My tone knob didn’t work at all, brand new outta the box. I decided I didn’t want to have to mess with smartphones and computers to make this pedal function and sent it back.

The tone knob isn't tremendously wide in its sweep, but you should definitely hear it doing something. Especially if it's brand new and can't have been reprogrammed or something. Doesn't sound right to me.

  5. I know you sent it back, but did you try doing a firmware update first? It typically needs it when bought new.

No I didn’t. I actually bought the pedal not knowing it needed to be connected/updated and all that with a phone etc. I like solid state pedals, not digital.

  7. Understood. They try to sell it as the PC stuff is an added feature and why they come with the three stock settings, but mine needed a firmware update to fix an issue with the “clean” knob, even in the stock settings.

I’ve also seen a few people have this issue with new aftershocks that was fixed after an update.

Seems like an issue that slipped under their radar. It’s unfortunate because if it didn’t need the update, a lot of people would like it fine as is without any software interfacing. It is a great pedal if you’re willing to use the software though, IME of course.

I'm curious. What was the issue? I notice that my "clean" knob goes 100% clean fully clockwise, but when fully counterclockwise it seems to have some of their "LoRETAIN" on it, no low end loss, and a pretty decent bump in overall volume. Is that the "problem" or is that the "fixed" version? :)

  9. Lol, I think that’s the fixed version.

My issue (and what I’ve seen from posts from at least two others, IIRC), is when going fully clockwise (to fully clean) it actually mutes to output. It’s like the clean signal isn’t coming through, so it effectively acts a volume knob.
