Hi. Anyone have a source for necks of reasonable quality - Medium scale?

Warmoth necks ... are too specially sized ... i think ... to be useful.

    thx.

My friend Keith Horne and I did the neck for this bass, 32" scale. You can order custom necks to any dimension that you like from Keith. We can do any scale length, any radius, any width. I do the truss rod installation and main machining; he does the rest. You can order through him.

    Keith can be reached at:

    That Eden neck is interesting.

Since it's 21 frets, one of a few things would need to happen to a standard bass body:

    1. A standard neck pocket would need to be routed deeper into the body to allow for proper intonation.

    2. The bridge would need to be moved towards the neck to allow for proper intonation.

    3. A little bit of both 1 and 2.

By contrast, I'm starting work on a "conversion neck" project that would allow any standard format 34" scale (F-style) bass to be converted to 32" scale.

It will be a 20 fret neck with an overhang and the nut and headstock moved to the location of the first fret on an otherwise standard 34" neck profile.

Here is a similar project completed on a Lakland bass:
