    hypothetically

what would happen if someone were to use a regular patch cord to connect an amp head to a speaker cabinet(s) not a speaker cable.........would it fry the speaker???

I'm talking about in an emergency situation, would it be all right.

You'd more likely fry the cable. The cable area would be too small to let any current through, so either you'll have poor sound or the cable will die a horrible smelly death... :)

You'll fry the cable and get bad sound.

I've done this a few times in a pinch... never fried a cable, but there is a noticeable degradation in sound... FWIW
