speaker sensitivity

    Help me understand. Thinking of buying an Epifani
    1x12 box. The specs look great on this box but I
    keep seeing opinions that Epi boxes like alot of
    power. Why would it need more power than other
    boxes with about the same sensitivity specs? 102db
    How does one box sound louder and be more effcient
    than another box with the same ohms and specs?
  2. Because they take the measurement at a bullsh!t 1000 Hz, or some other useless frequency. It is easy to make a loud driver at 1 KHz, and a whole lot more difficult having it do it at 100 Hz. Or 40 Hz.

    Take a gander at the Phil Jones site. He plots the response of his cabs across the frequency spectrum using a known voltage. This is honest publication of how a cab resonds to a given power level.
