This is a wonderful bass which I defretted myself. The result is a very earthy, woody sound. You can elicit a lot of nuance from your fingers playing this beauty. The wood is gorgeous, as you can see, with just a few very minor dings.

It's a Cort Action Jr. which I bought new, short scale. The strings are Rotosound Jazz 77 flats, which are perfectly suited to the lacquered fretboard. This is not a bass you're going to get a bangy-clangy sound out of.

It feels smooth and effortless, a dream to play. I guarantee you will love this bass, or just send it back for a refund. (But I know you won't :) ) Price is $195 plus $25 shipping.

Here's a link chronicling the defretting process on this:

  2. this looks very nice indeed, and a great price too.

i couldn't get the link to the defretting explanation to work, maybe you could paste some of that here? i'm most interested in what the fretlines are - they appear to be ground down frets, but i can't tell for sure. also, can you tell us what kind of electronics are in this bass, and what kind of finish is on the fretboard?

    thanks!

The fret lines are actually painted on in their original spots. After I removed the frets and filled in with wood putty, then I taped it up for painting.

After the chrome spray paint, I applied a couple coats of Minwax Polycrylic (by brush). I used about 5 coats total, interspersed with 3 coats of Olympic Pearlessense, which gives a nice shimmer/glimmer look. Then finally, 3 coats of spray-on lacquer from a spray can.
