Specter Legend 4 vs G&L Tribute 2000

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by jefft54, Jun 12, 2005.

  1. I finished reading the Spector review in BP mag. Which do you think is the better for tone versatility and modern sound between the two. Both cost about the same. The Spector seems to get somewhat better reviews at TB but most of them are for the USA made. And yes, i've used the search for both and read the opinions individually but didn't see one with this comparison. Also, i'm not looking for a modern look necessarily (Spector wins hands down IMHO) just a modern sound compared to the 70's jazz bass I already have.

i own a g&l l-2000, not tribute, but i have played them, for a modern tone, i'd go with the spector, g&ls have a great tonal variety, but seem to be predominantly older sounding, especially with rosewood as on most tributes i've seen.
