Looks like I'm the first in. Hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day!
In! Happy Memorial Day everyone!
This NS-5p has two separate 18V USA preamps... a lot of power in a small control cavity
Happy Memorial day everyone... remember our fallen warriors today.
What's the IC there? Is it....... TL072?
RIP Mike Starr....Spector Warrior.
In! Happy memorial day fellas!
Not sure on the IC. She's all buttoned up for now. Since the cards are placed vertically it's a bit difficult to see what the individual components are on the boards.
I'm lurking......still trying to pick out "the one" to officially join
BTW-the six string Euro I was talking about last week on the Richmond VA craigslist is down to $1000.
If someone wants to trade it for a Euro 5er....I will go buy it and ship for the right five. Here is the link again:
she sure is pretty
In. Here is a photo of my Euro 5LX post surgery thanks to our own Limaguy. The trim pot tonepump was removed and installed in my Rebop 5 and TW pickups were taken out as well. In there now are an EMG BQC System and EMG DC's. I just love how the knobs say EMG on them instead of having the white dots on them which I noticed when Worldeeeter bought his Alex Webster model.
Tonally I think this would be my ideal choice.......based solely on experience with 3 band preamps and "my tone" options!
Yes, John, my friend...the ONLY way to go!!!
So far, I am amazed with this pre I have to say. One of the differences I see with the BQC is the treble isn't as much in your face as the tonepump is. When you turn the treble up all the way on the tonepump, that will rip your face off which can be good in certain situations but it also introduces more hum into the signal which I am not the biggest fan of.
This is my first ever 3 band pre and I have to say, the extra mid control is really nice to have. Factor in the mid sweep also and you have yourself so many different tonal varieties, it can just get crazy. I love how when you start turning the mid sweep knob while playing a note, you get this subtle whah effect which sounds really cool.
One thing to note though if you are going to go 18v with this. Your control cavity is going to pretty cramped once everything is done so now I can see why they created the extra battery compartment for the batteries. Sam also needed to widen to holes for the mid pots too since those are wider than the regular volume and pickup pan pots so that is something to consider right there. He started out using a file which was taking a long time and would have worked but I made an executive decision and the dremel came out
He recorded some clips of the Euro with the tonepump and TW pickups and with the BQC and DC's as well so we will post them once things calm down a bit.
Anyone have a 5 with p/j or DC's and a haz?
