Here's one of my old first friday pics. It was nice to be able to have that much equity tied up in basses. Off to rehearsal or a gig and you go, "Hmmmmm... I think I'll play this one tonight. LOL

The Blue euro fiver was also a limited edition bass. I put aggressive wound Nordys in it with the 9v and it had a glorious growl to it.

You can tell I prefer passive pickups with the HAZ. ;)

In order not to embarrass myself here... is there a visual cheat sheet to figure out which is which? Which p-up configuration is which model? PJ, soap bars, JJ... ???
And yes, that quilted blue in the middle. Ugh - that's gorgeous...
As you can tell from one of my Dingwalls, I love that look... PXL_20210325_195852256.jpg
That feels like it might have been a mistake in hindsight... :)

Just for the hive knowledge, I did buy a bass from one of the Tokyo bass dealers (Gakki) that list regularly on Reverb. It was an easy transaction, not much more to ship from there than from NYC. That was pre-Covid by a year or so.
it was a unique bass. And I was happy with it (until I sold it, natch)

Thanks that’s good to know as I often see basses from there that look tempting but I was always worried about dealing with them / international etc

Dingwall? That would be a bummer...

I'm pretty much on my usual pace-
Sold two(Dingwall), bought one(US Spector), ordered two(US Spector), spec'd two more for potential order(US Spector, Warwick Masterbuilt). The potential Spector will probably happen, the Warwick, probably not. If the Warwick order doesn't happen, I may spec out another Dingwall order.

    Then I need to stop.

    Maybe.

Don't they all seem over priced? You find a good deal?

I hate asking this, but I am looking to probably buy a used Euro 5LX in the future. Thing is I haven't played one at all and there are none that I have seen being sold in my area, and I would like to play a 5LX with EMGs before purchasing. So I ask if there is anyone in Massachusetts, Connecticut, or Rhode Island that has a Euro 5LX (that is hopefully stock, and again, with EMGs) that I can try out.

Not him, but I remember getting a good deal on my Phoenix PH-5 that I bought from Ikebe. This was before Ikebe went onto Reverb, and I think you can still contact them on their site. Ishibashi, TC Gakki, and Geek N' Box also seem to be reasonably priced. What you need to pay attention to is shipping, as from experience Ikebe does insured, tracked air shipping, which is great but at the same time expensive.

Japan can be quite pricey to shop from.

I got lucky on the one purchase I made.

my wife was there on a work trip.
I just happened to reach out to a seller there in an off chance... she came home looking like a rock star with a dingwall on her shoulder.
I may have saved ALOT of money on this transaction.

funny how things work but I still keep in touch with the seller. Lol. He’s a bad influence though.

“hey Nate! Did you see this one that’s available here??! “.

Plum? The one next to the middle? That's an ultraviolet NS2. Todd Cooke owns that one now. It was a killer bass but just too heavy for me at over 10 pounds.

    Yup, that one.
It looked plum on that top picture, on my uncalibrated screen anyway :)
Man this is really the most beautiful spector color I know of.

    It’s definitely
My favourite. I wish their staining was a bit more uniform but I try and right that off as wood character

Here're a couple of more pics. One of the raw wood and one of the bass before hardware and electronics...
