I am looking for a new Spector NS CRFM,I live in north Alabama and the dealers listed on the Spector web site don't have squat in stock, does anybody know of any good dealers in thia area? I have thought about doing the mail order thing but I like to hold and play anything I'm gonna pay that much for, thanks.;)

    Welcome to Talk Bass!!!

If you can't find a dealer near you, try mail order. I know sometimes Musicians Friend has special offers & shipping is free. If you don't like the bass, I doubt it ;), You can send it back to them & be out only ~$15 shipping. If you have to drive out to a dealer near you (or not so near you), gas & toll might be more than that.

Or you can call them, say that something is wrong & complain until them pay for shipping back to them. :D

who else has bought a bass mail order?and did it go ok?

  5. I have bought one bass from BassNW (absolutely wonderful people), one bass off of Ebay, and am getting ready to order a brand new Spector NS5CRFM from Bass Central. I know a guy in my area that can do any and all adjustments for me if I need them done, so this is not a problem. As far as the actual mail order experience (customer service, shipping, etc), I have had no problems.

The Ebay experience went very well....much better than I would expect.

BassNW is a great place to buy from. They were very easy to deal with. I would definitely buy from them again should the opportunity arise.

I have heard nothing but great things about Bass Central, and since they've got a lot of Czech Spectors in stock I'm going to try them this time around. I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

    Hope that helps!

no cezch 4 stringers at those places.

  8. yeah, I've found Czech 5s to be a bit more prevalent on those web sites. BassNW rarely has many CRs in stock. Bass Central may have one in stock that's not on the website (doubt it though). You could call them, shoot them an email, or just ask Gard (on TB) if he's around. Gard works there and gets to play all of the pretty basses....he is lucky.

I'll be sure to keep my eyes peeled for good deals on 4-string Czechs.... any particular finish in mind?

I know Musician's Friend has them for like $1500 brand new.... at least I think that's near the going rate. It could be a bit less.

  9. My 4 string NSCR-FM Spector was purchased through Musican's Friend. The bass was mailed in perfect condition.
