I have a Spector Legend 5 string with the wannabe-EMG passive pickups in it. I love the bass and don't really want to sell it, but i don't like the hifi, active, clicky sound. Are there any pickups that would fit my bass that would give me a more traditional jazz esque sound? I think Nordstrand makes one but i'm not sure.

It has the Tonepump Jr (I think) preamp in it.

I was thinking about gutting the housings and sticking jazz pu's in them. just glue them in and reinstall. Jazz pup and a maple body. mmmmm

Jazz pickups won't fit in EMG 40 size cases. They are too long.

I make Jazz style pickups in those housings, but they are made to fit in there.

Also, it would be very hard to gut the pickups. You can buy empty ones online.

I still have the soapbar EMGHz in my bridge position until I can afford an alternative. In the neck position I have a Basslines Quarter Pounder Jazz. I solo that pickup most of the time and am very happy with the way it sounds.

It buzzes a little, as singles will do, but I like the sound of it more than I hate the buzz so it's worth it IMO. Now, what to do with that pesky Hz at the bridge...?
