My Spector's bridge pickup sounds very "farty" ....like a blown speaker turned to 11. The two pickups nearer the neck are fine.

Do you guys think I should try and have it repaired? There is only one place in town that could do it and they are not authorized or anything. I guess my other option would be to replace them.

Suggestions? I have been getting by with just turning the bridge pickup volume really low. But Im ready to get this bass back in fighting condition.

Sounds like the internal pre in the pickup died. Or could be a loose wire issue (alim to the pickup). If it's broken, don't think you can repare the pickups, only change it.

Call Spector if your bass is relatively new. Apparently they have great customer care. And the pickup swap should be trivial, new EMGs come with a modular design.

The shop just called and said it was just a little corrosion and they fixed it for 20 bucks! Cant beat that!
