I played out with my new Spector bass last night and found that my fingerstyle sound was very hard to nail down and control. Not very focused or defined...... OTOH, when using a pick, it was INCREDIBLE. I wonder if it is the Aguilar 2band preamp and/or the EMG pups......................................... Has anyone had the same experience?? I think I read somewhere that Spector will swap out preamps for you. Should the pups be lowered?

Lows are boomy and uncontrollable, highs are not that present. Nore so in single coil setting. That's how I usually play my F bass with fingers. With a pick, in Humbucking, it is everything I could ask for. Maybe this should be in the pickup forum?

On my Status, fingerstyle sounds best with both pickups on full and plucking near the bridge. Have you tried that combination yet?

    Of course.
