where does the ssd fit into the grand scheme of things. better or worse than my euro??
No better or worse. odds are that it was made in the czech republic which is where your euro is made. each one of course has it's own personalities, so you'll have to compare.

My Spector is a 1995 SSD NS-4 hand-built in the USA shop. As a US model, it's far more expensive than the Czech model.
As to whether it's any better or not, you'd have to decide that for yourself.
