Spector Tone Pump vs Bartolini 3-band

    Although I like the Tone Pump in my Euro Spector, I sometimes wish it had a mid control knob.

    How is a Bartolini 3 band pre-amp, compared to the TP? The only other active pre I've used before is a Warwick MEC 3 band pre. The TP definitely sounds cleaner and fatter to me.

    General consensus is that any aftermarket preamp is better than the tone pump.

    A quick search will show many similar questions about upgrades. Most commonly, the upgrades are to EMG BTC/BQC and Aguilar OBP-2/-3 preamps.

    Personally, I love the OBP-3 and will use it to replace the preamp in every Spector I ever own.
