I am looking to try a new string on my Spector Euro 4. I had been using GHS boomers forever, and although I like them on my customized Precision, they aren't doing it for me on the Euro. I am fairly pleased with the DR Hi-Beams I put on my Ibanez 5-string a while back (although that bass's pre-amp and pickups make about anything sound very sweet and hi-fi!) Anyways, I am thinking of trying the Hi-Beams on my Spector, but am wondering if anyone here has tried the Spector Steels? And if so, how do they compare to the Hi-Beams? (Their respective light sets are the same guages)

nope, haven't tried those BUT I recently switched to DR hi's for my Euro 4 and the tone is 100% more lively. Very bright through to a phat bottom, but zingy and driving with a hell of a lot of snap, and yes the strings to tend to last a lot longer than most other brands IME
