I am really thinking about getting one of the Czech Spectors,
but was wondering how the NS 2000-4 or the NS 2000Q4
compared. Or the Q5. I don't have a five string, and was
thinking about something cheap(er) to play with.

i own a spector NS2002 4-string and i am very happy with it. it runs at about $450. this is the cheapest model spector makes.but it is still very equiped, it has 2 EMG pickups, 24 fret rosewood fingerboard. it sounds great has a slim neck and is fast and easy to play and i think has a cool design. check out www.spectorbass.com for more info they will send a free catolog

Ive played both the ns-2000 and czhec and in my opinion the czhec models are much better, tonally and craftsmanship wise. Even looks prettier IMO. Play them both and youll know exactly what Im talking about, I think most Spector players would agree with this as well. BTW sorry if this post sounds arrogent.

I just got back from Mars and they had some spectors ranging form 350$ to 1500$. I am a Musicman guy but I gotta admit that I really liked the Spectors. Especially the ones in the $800 dollar range...they even had a spector 5string that I loved! It was the only 5 string I have ever picked up that I even considered going into debt for. I am confused about this whole Korea/Czech/USA manufacturing thing....is there a Spector primer somewhere?

  5. wow mars must have purchased a ton of those, i went to mars yesterday and all of a sudden, out of know where they had like 8 to 10 of the things.
  6. The Czech Spectors are far superior to the Koeran Spectors, in fact, the Czech Spectors will rival the US Spectors in sound quality, no kidding! I own 3 so I fully recommend them.
BTW, www.musiciansfriend has a once in a lifetime smoking deal on a few '99 solid glossy black 4 string Czech Spectors for $699!!! They're normally $1349 new and I guarantee you'll never find a deal like this again. So, if you're interested in one then get on it!!!
  7. Go to www.spectorbass.com and you'll get the lowdown on the entire Spector line!

My 3 USA Spectors. I can't resist putting this pic in a Spector thread!!!! :)

If you are considering buying a Spector & it's between the Czech & Korean models, Definitly go w/the Czech model. They are MUCH BETTER made, have better electronics, better hardware & play like a dream. Like Mr. Dead said (I'm a poet & I didn't even know it :)) Musicians Friend has 99 models for less money (they don't have as nice figured maple bodies & don't have "crown" inlays) I ordered a black NS-5 CR from MF & I should get it hopefull the latest Wed. The Czech models are VERY closley made to the USA series & you will not be dissapointed. I've had a couple of Czech models & sold them when I got the USA's, & the Czech's are awesome.
  9. Nino, that black Czech Spector can come in real handy when you play the seedy side of the city, eh!

That's pretty much why I getting it. I don't like to lug around my US NS-5, especially places that tell my "Ah, just leave all your stuff in the back....." That really freakes me out.

I ordered it in the "Black Burst" finish. I already
have a red bass (BC Rich Virgin), and I don't
    really care for blue basses.
I'll let you guys know when I receive it.
