Spinoff - Colors you hate?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by dancehallclasher, Nov 10, 2002.

  1. as stated in another thread, i hate that midnight wine finish. in fact, i have problems with a lot of red finishes - fiesta red and dakota red are also gagworthy, although candy apple red is very nice. graffiti yellow is hideous. also i hate that finish that looks purple sometimes and black other times.
  2. Anything glossy (gloss black is ok)...yellow...bright green or bright blue...pink or anything feminine.

I don't like the look of black on basses with out a white pickguard. But if it sounded decent, i'd get one. Plain white is a little bit plain for me. Other than that, i'm open to just about anything.
  4. I only like red if it's a deep red. And i don't like red on a Fender, ever. Also, green just doesn't work for me as a bass. Don't know why; I can just never imagine myself playing a green bass. For Fenders; off-white with a black or tortoise-shell pickguard. Others; Natural wood grain, or deep blue.
  5. those last two about fenders, and others were what i DO like.

White. A white bass is so plain. It has no vibe to it. It is boring.

Don't like any primary colors, red, blue, green - especially green. Definitely don't like anything in sparkle or metallic.

Black, white and cream is OK.

I like to see the wood, bassically only really like a moderate wood grain, with clear or tobacco/amber/honey/vintage burst finishes.

Not too keen on burl, it's a bit too flashy for me.

Favorite color to hate - gloss black: Shows EVERY fingerprint and smudge! :p

Not a fan of 'bursts either...

...not real impressed with most buckeye burls I see, although occassionally one will pop up that I dig.

i hate candy apple red, fiesta red, torino red, all those reds... i love red as color but not on a bass or guitar.
  16. I might offend someone by saying this, but there have been a lot of pictures of blue basses floating around here lately, and I've disliked almost every one.

  17. Hates: White w/ White P/G, Black w/ white PG, yellows, most greens (although dark greens and some trans greens are cool), purple, pink, most exotic tops don't do anything for me. Hi-gloss finishes.

Likes: Black w/ black p/g, red w/ black p/g, trans black, most dark reds, tasteful exotic woods (not ones that look like furniture), matte finishes.

Personally, color is one of the least important factors when buying a bass. Tone, feel, looks, color, weight.

Hate: All reds (except for cherry burst), yellow, orange, white, green, any pastel/candy colors.

Like: Bursts (favorite is cherry), Blue, Black, and natural :)
  19. oooh, i forgot about those. yuck. (except for the metal top reverends. but those are clearly different.)
  20. I hate that mocha color seen on some 70's Fenders. Oh, one word, Antigua

What I really want is a 57 RI P in Shell Pink with both covers....mmmm
