What is the advantage or disadvantage of either option. I am putting in new pots into my SX for a series paralell mod and i have the choice of choosing split or solid shaft CTS pots. Which one do i want? I searched and couldnt find a good answer.

I believe it only affects what kind of knob you can use...so it really doesn't matter, as there are plenty of knobs for both kinds

If you're going to use split shafts with knobs that have a set screw, make sure to align the knob so that the split in the shaft points to the set screw. Otherwise, when you tighten the screw it'll squeeze the two halves of the shaft together, and you end up with wobbly knobs.

Split shaft pots are intended to be used with knobs that don't have a set screw, like those on Les Pauls and Stratocasters - usually plastic. But you can use them with knobs that have a screw, just do what I mentioned above.
