So I have a Schecter Stiletto Stealth I'm going to be doing some pretty heavy mods to. I love the feel, the weight, and just about everything about this bass. However, I'm not a huge fan of the Active tone, so I'm looking at modding a second pick guard so I can try it passive and just swap it back if I dislike it.

The pick guard is going to be sent out to get a custom one made that will just have tone and volume. Going to have a P-bass pickup with the Music Man pickup in there but just disconnected since I don't use it (or maybe some sort of switching in case I do). Maybe concentric pots?

I don't think it would be the case, but, in terms of split and solid shafts, the bass currently has a split-style shaft. Anything I need to look out for in new knobs if I'm replacing all of the electronics anyway?

Why not have your custom pickguard omit the cutout for the MM pickup and cover the cavity? You will at least save some weight by not having an unused MM pickup installed.

Decide what knobs you would like to use and choose the pots accordingly.

Thanks for this. I figured I was just over-thinking the pots.

The MM pickup is where a bridge Jazz bass pickup is, so it's not a pick guard cavity, unfortunately.

I'm keeping an eye out. I'd love to pick up another one of these Stiletto bodies, fill the pickup hole and finish over it as a fun project to see what it's like. I suspect the lack of weight would actually cause neck dive, as these basses are very light--one reason I love 'em. My jazz bass and precision bass are both about 10 pounds on the dot. This thing is hardly over 8. If I'm removing the preamp, battery, and some of the electronics, it'll be even lighter.

Only if you refer to it as your rebel bass.
