Split Signal Distortion Question

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by count_funkula, Oct 4, 2001.

  1. I have a Carvin R600 head with a 2x10 and a 1x15 cab.

Anyone know if it's possible to take a Carvin amp in bi-amp mode and run a distorted signal to the high frequency cab and a clean signal to the low cab?

I was watching that movie on Spectors web page of Quintin Berry and it sounds like he is running some sort of split signal thing. One distorted and one clean. Sounds awesome!!!

  2. You can use the pre-amp insert jack to do this.

You will need a distortion device that works with line-level inputs and outputs.

    yep
High Insert jack is the way.
Im doing that on my R1000.

I dont think quentin is using distortion.
Just a lot of SWR Equipment

  4. Ok. I see the amp1 and amp2 inserts on the back of my R600. I'm going to use a Korg PX3B Pandora for the distortion.

Can you explain exactly how this will all connect. Sorry if I sound stupid but I haven't ever messed with this kind of thing.

    Thanks!

You have a series III then.

You need to make a cable.
    1 Plug Stereo , 2 Mono.

The easiest way for you is to buy an AP1 at www.carvin.com

It is a Stereo Plug with Left and Right jacks.

  6. Excellent!

Thanks Luis! I think it is actually the PP10 that I want rather than the AP1. The PP10 has all male connectors.

Use the AP1, that way you wont have Fixed size cable, and can use your favorite cables.

Also the AP1 says SEND in one of the Jacks and RETURN in the other.

    :)

I'd turn off the tweeter in the cab unless you like spitty, buzzy distortion.
