Do to a physical problem I've been forced into playing a short scale bass,I tried out a few that are available. I liked the feel of the Ibanez Micro the best, even though it was one of the cheapest, so I bought one. I still like the way it feels and plays but it lacks a couple things, Sustain and Tone! Because I know nothing about attaining either from an inexpensive bass, I need advice.

  2. "Tone" is not very specific, but I heard that thicker strings may help.

For sustain, try tightening the neck joint if possible. Also, I think that a heavier bridge may help.
