Couldn't find many discussions on these, and up until a few days ago I didn't know they existed with roasted maple necks. For anyone who hasn't seen: Squier Contemporary Active Jazz Bass V HH - Burgundy Satin- Sweetwater Exclusive Anyone tried one? I'm such a sucker for roasted maple and I'm particularly interested in a jazz V at the moment so currently GASing over one of these. Active double humbuckers w/ an ash body.
Havent tried one. Looks promising . Nice features at a good price. These seem to be more budget friendly vs Sire.
Yeah I didn't care when I saw them released a year or 2 ago but the roasted maple caught my interest. Looks like it may be a sweetwater exclusive.
I've always found the Jazz Bass pickguard with the cut out for the control plate, but for a bass that doesn't have a control plate, a bit weird. It's a shame they don't ship this bass with the pickguard and screws in a zip bag for you to add yourself. Removing leaves screw holes that would need filling and finishing, but drilling 10 holes with a pickguard as a template is dead easy. Unless there are routed wiring channels, this bass would look cooler to me without the picguard. I'm the same with ashtrays and coveres, some basses look cool with them, but why not put them in a seperate bag for the customer to decide. The shop can easily fix to the disply model.
Definitely bro!!!! I purchased the 4-string version though because I’m a 4 string guy. I will post a review video on YouTube.
Nice! Looks awesome. Unfortunately I'm going to have to wait a while to try one. Just dropped $1400 on a stingray so unless I want to be single & homeless I won't be buying another bass any time soon.
This one looks pretty good to me. Black hardware puts it over the top. As for the "no control plate" complaints, it sure looks better than the J basses without pickguards and the weird control plates floating in space.
I'm stoked on my passive one... The 12" radius roasted neck, dual truss, himass bridge... It's great. Wears DR Black Beauties and is so fun but how is that active one? I've got GAS for the Olive 5 active on sale at Sweetwater.
Are you using an octave pedal to get those low notes on the gospel songs? I enjoyed all of your YouTube content. I notice you only play 4 string.
