Is this a good vintage for the MIJ Squiers? I'm looking at one for about $260. Only problem appears to be some superficial scratches on the body and the faceplate.

    Good deal?

I have an 82 Squier '57 JV. It was assembled in Japan using American pickups and Hardware. These are the ones that (can) fetch big money. It's a GREAT bass. The 84 and up versions used Japanese pickups and hardware. Still great basses! It's surely worth more than that. Get it!

I had a MIJ Squier P-Bass that was a mid-80's, although I can't remember the specific year. It was a really sweet bass that I probably should have kept. It had a real nice sunburst; was well-made; and sounded great.

The only reason I sold it was because I got a great deal on a Fender AV '62 Reissue at a one-day sale.
