Gday, I recently bought a Squier Mike Dirnt tele bass. Long story short, the neck is bowed and the truss rod is 'maxed out'. I have a Squier affinity P bass so have asked necks. The screw holes lined up, but tele neck is square, affinity is rounded. The neck fits snuggley in the pocket, screw holes line up & it seems to play OK (needs to be set up) but I'm curious that as its not 100% squared off against the body, does this have any detrement to the sound or feel (vibration)? Cheers
No. It doesn't have to be snug all the way around the pocket, but it does need to be seated properly flat against the body in order to work. I have occasionally wondered how the scale length would be affected by a square/round conversion.
