These just came off a new Squier VM 70s Jazz neck. (I replaced with hipshot ultralites). Was surprised how nice and smooth these were. If I didn't want to shave a couple headstock ounces I would have stuck with them. They seem to be almost exactly like the tuners on my Fender MIM jazz. (same hole pattern/distance).
Along with the tuners, are the ferrules and 16 screws.

    3/4" holes required for ferrells?

    Most likely 18mm.

I just measured the ferrules to be sure. They're right around 18mm. They were nice and snug in the holes with no masking tape. I think this is the standard size for "regular/big" tuners. Smaller, 3/8" post tuners, like on the Ibanez SR basses use smaller mounting holes and ferrules.
