I just purchased one, and noticed that the knobs do not have any allen screws. Why is that? The reason I ask is that I noticed that the knobs are rubbing against the control plate, and wonder if I could somehow adjust the knobs. If not what can I do?
The knobs are push on. Just pull up on the knobs a bit. Somehow they got jammed down on the shafts all the way.
Thanks! I'm also wondering about a possible pre-amp addition to this bass. Do standard J style control plates fit these bases, and will it require any additional routing of the cavity? Any recommendations
On the Affinity models no routing is required but I cannot speak to the VM. Squiers often have control plates that are slightly different than Fenders especially where the plate meets the pickguard. I have had to trim pickguards on Squiers to match up to an Audere plate in the past.
NICE! Are they hard to install? Not looking for much, but maybe a 2 or 3 band would be nice. EDIT: $149! That's more than half of what I paid for the bass. Are there LESS expensive alternatives?
Preamps ain't cheap unfortunately. The only significantly cheaper preamp I've heard good things about would be this one: http://www.bassmods.com/-3-Band-Pre...P-Passive-tone-Input-Jack-on-Plate_p_212.html
Well jazz plates are usually a standard size so my guess is yes but minor routing (like a dremel to the inside of the control cavity) might be required. I guess the only way to be sure would be to shoot bassmods an email and see what they have to say.
I looked at the bassmods pre. Looks pretty nice. I would need a friend to do the soldering as I don't own a gun.
