So I currently have a Squire Vintage Modified Jazz V with passive pickups, I've had this bass for a couple a years, today I decided to buy a Sire Marcus Miller V7 with active pickups. Being that these two instruments are in two different price ranges, would you keep the Squire around as a back up? Or just get rid of it and make some money out of it? I like the tone of the Squire, but I am indecisive on whether I should get rid of it or not.
If you like the Squier and don't need to sell, hang on to it. Oh and FWIW, the Sire has passive pickups, the preamp makes it active, but with it off, it's straight passive.
Yeah I think I'll just keep it, I'll just have to find some space for it haha. I have a Takamine GD20CE and an Ibanez AW54CE guitar, the Squire Jazz Bass, and hopefully by tomorrow the Sire MMV7.
Well just a little update, so they sent me a used bass, which was in very bad condition, the body was very scratched up. It wasn't as new as it said on the website. That being said, I will try looking for another bass, maybe go with another brand.
Did you buy it directly from Sire? If not, then it's hardly the brand's fault. And if you did, contact them immediately and tell them you received an obviously used or B-stock item. For that matter, how was it described in the sale ad?
No I bought it from Guitar Center, but the website said it was new. After calling guitar center, they did noticed that it was a mistake on the store's side. And they did tell me what store it came from. So it's just going back, and I'll get a refund.
