My wife bought me the bass I have been longing for. Sweet new Stingray 5. I have never played anything but Fender 4 strings. Got some to learn with the added string, but this bass is awesome to me. Can't say enough about the woman I am married to as I probably am not good enough for the bass she bought me. I think this bass rocks.

Try some D'Addario "Chromes" Flats on it. I have a set of them on my MMSR 4 and really diggum'. They have a nice brightness to them (for a flatwound) that let the Musicman tone come through but still retain the thump of flats, they also sustain rather well too. As for my 2 Vintage Lulls I like TI Flats on those.

BTW ... NICE lookin bass you got there Brother (oh, I already said that :D )

That is one sick ray!!! Love the whole greyness / crazy pickguard. It sure is a real beaut! I just wish the pickguards on the Ray 5's were the same shape as on the 4's. I find the 5's shape nothing short of hideuous.

What pickguard is that? I think I have to have one for my Black Bongo 5.

    Really pretty combination - congrats.

It is the Egyptian smoke finish with and abalone pick gaurd. Looks better in person than it does in the picture. I am loving this bass except someone moved my c on the neck. LOL I think I better live with the 5 for awhile until it feels natural.

The store said it was Egyptian smoke in color but it doesn't look like the egyptian smoke on the EB site. Any guesses as to what color it really is?
