For those who has MK1 pack in their basses and they are not vey happy with the pre, here are some samples of my sr 506 with the mks and an aguilar obp3:

For me it was a great improvement, clear sound whithout that clanky high end

    hope this was helpful
  2. WOW! That sounds soo good! Really nice playing. I love the way the chord clips sound; beautiful. A few questions:

    How were these clips recorded?
Did you have to rout (sp?) the body so that it would house the extra battery?
Did you use the 9 volt circuit or the 18 volt?

Thanks for the clips! Any pictures? :D

well, the bass was recorded directly to a little mixer and then to the sound board (delta 1010lt)
I'm only using the 9v circuit

Funny - I did the same thing today, but in a Cort A4. Kept the MK1 PUs (for now at least) and put in the OBP-3. The improvement was way beyond my expectations!! What took me most by suprise was the added punch. Better clarity (especially in the bottom end) and an improved and more useful midrange control as well as reduced clankiness were my main reasons for the change and the preamp really delivers. Definitely worth the time and money! And now I am a bit tempted to go for the MKIV pickups as well...
