SR800 pickup height?

    Hi i've lowered the strings on May bass and now there's some awefull sounds from the pickups , any idea on the right night of the pick up should be

    3mm from the string bottom to the pickup with the last fret pressed down is a good starting point.

    Turn left at the gopher.
    Usually about 4mm when fretting the highest fret. That’s pretty normal so the magnetic field doesn’t interfere with the string movement. From there you can vary to get the best tone. Use your ears here. Only you can set it where you like what’s happening. Don’t get caught up in specs; other than having them too close (workers string effects) there are no rules.

    near Mt. Rainier
    I just checked on my stock SR600, and it's at about 3mm at the bridge, and almost 4mm at the neck just laying flat on a table.
