I'm adding a J pickup to a P bass, so this was the wiring I was hoping to achieve. I honestly didn't think this would be hard in any way, but I'm having an issue of when turning down either of the pickups in the middle position of the switch, volume cuts completely. Logic tells me that this wiring would be essentially correct: Just using a stacked volume pot shouldn't have any problems, I wouldn't think. Or, maybe my lack of experience with dual volume and 3 way switch doesn't clue me in to why both go down. Or... maybe I am just flat out doing something wrong. But it does seem like I could use some help, if anyone has successfully done this wiring scheme before. - Aguilar PJ HC set - Stacked A250K volume pot - 3 way DPDT on-on-on mini toggle - tone control wired to the middle lugs of the 3 way toggle, same as output
That’s normal. Guitars are wired this way quite often. If you want independent volumes, swap the center and left lugs on each volume pot (like a J bass circuit).
