stainless strings on phenolic fretless fingerboard

Discussion in 'Strings [BG]' started by Peter McFerrin, May 2, 2002.

  1. I've decided on getting an MTD Kingston 5 fretless this summer. I'd like to keep on using my beloved Fodera Diamonds, but I'm not sure if even a phenolic board would be hard enough to use with stainless steel strings. Anybody have any experience with this?

Peter, I think that phenolic will hold up just fine.

My Zon is phenowood, which is phenolic resin impregnated birch. It may be a little harder than phenolic, but not much.

I use only stainless steel roundwounds, and there is no wear at all, just a little marking.
