Here's the announcement from Stan's son on the Jazz West Coast Forum.

    Dear Friends

I deeply regret having to inform you that my Father the Great Stan Levey
passed last night (the 19th) after a courageous fight with cancer of the
jaw. Anyone that saw Him at the IAJE in Long Beach did not know that He was
in tremendous pain. He would never let anyone know. He is, and Was the
strongest man I have ever met. His services will be held at Forrest Lawn in
Hollywood hills on Sat at 2:30.

Let His Great contributions to Music, Photography and to His family and all
    of His friends live on.

Stan was one of Bird's favorite drummers, as well as sounding so great on that record with Scotty (The Arrival of Victor Feldman).
