Im involved with a lot of jazz stuff, but most of it it organised by other people (adults arrange everything, the children usually just play)

What do expect to accomplish with this trio, what are your goals? Playing out, recording?

Get yourselves a real book. Start at the beginning. Work to the end. Repeat.

    Have fun?

And let everybody take solos ;)

    • Work the business end like a business and the playing end like DisneyWorld
    • Mimic successful groups you've read about and seen in your area
    • Decide up front how decisions are to be made for the group
    • Record your rehearsals
    • Always be prompt to rehearsal AND gigs - showing up on time is 90% of getting along in life.
    • Make room in your star search to do an occasional charity gig - especially around Christmas.
    • Get and read the book "Guerilla Marketing" - Do as it says
    • Share dreams, visions, love of the craft and EXPENSES!!
    • Don't take yourselves too seriously - just act and perform like it.

oooh, I really like this LIST feature! :D
